SMTP Auth in Outlook Express

NOTE: This will work for Outlook Express 4.X, 5.X and 6.X. Versions lower than 4.X are not supported.
This will work for Outlook 98 and higher. Outlook 97 is not supported.

• Open Outlook Express or Outlook
• Click on Tools and come down to Accounts
• Select "Mail" tab, select your mail account and press the "Properties" button. Another window will apear.
• Check "My Mail Server requires authentication" and press the Settings button to configure it further. Another window will apear.
• Select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server". Press OK, to close the window, press OK again and again and now you have fully configured Outlook Express.

Norton Anti-Virus Users: If you are using Norton Anti-Virus on your system, you must enter the username and password in the SMTP Authentication settings of your email program. In other words, you cannot use the "Use the same settings as the incoming mail server" option, you must use the "Login As" option and re-enter your username and password.
