Howdy Ya'll!
Well, we are BACK from Jellico. Gosh, let me wipe my eyes again. Lisa and Steve, I must admit, are the MOST perfect couple. The wedding was breathtaking. Picture this, Lisa in a long white family heirloom of an 87 year old gown. Long hair flowing in the breeze. Steve elegant in a suit - and shaking - boy plumb lost his voice he did.
The wedding was outdoors, but the chairs were under a roof. The area was lovely, zillions of trees, surrounded by mountains on every side, huge serene lake right next to us where the swans (yes, swans) lazily floated by. It rained an hour before the wedding so everything was clean and fresh and new. The sky was cluttered with dark heavy clouds scrambling and climbing one ontop the other. Throughout the ceremony there was the constant sound of distant rumbling thunder. It was warm, but the breeze was heavenly and refreshing. The sun, it seemed at the most incredible times, kept peeking out from behind the clouds, casting glorious beams of light all about us. My son swore he saw an angel floating overhead. Surely he was wrong. Must have been a fleet of angels. Steve recited the lovliest words to Lisa, and then the sniffling began. I swear, I don't believe any of us were able to keep completely dignified. I even saw some of the men choking up. It was without a doubt the most beautiful wedding I had ever witnessed. This was not one of those quicky, easy in, easy out, sort of weddings. One was left with the impression that this wedding was meant to be real, lasting forever. Father Bob DID have to intervene at one point and pull Steve away from Lisa when he closed in for yet another wedding kiss.
Steven went up for communion, which he's never done, and promptly got the
wafer stuck to his tongue. Even the children were good. You have no idea.
Maddog and I enjoyed the weekend so. We didn't get to bed till 2 or 3
every morning. We all just stayed up after the kdis were asleep and
laughed till our sides hurt. And after the wedding, Steve and Lisa didn't
abandon us, but came out poolside and stayed up the night with us. They
put our comfort and fellowship above tradition...and we enjoyed every
minute. Thank you Steve and Lisa for allowing us to share in such joy,
your joy.
