I have something to say to the people of this country, and since this is my personal home page and not an official page of Netlink 2000, Inc., I intend to say it here.
The last figures I heard (from last night, Nov. 2 as the votes were still coming in) was that only 17% of the young people ages 18 - 29 in this country even bothered to get out and vote. This is comparable to the 2000 election when only 17% of the citizens in this age group voted.
People, what is wrong with you??? It doesn't matter to me whom you might have voted for, Bush or Kerry, but you didn't even bother to vote. You may think "My vote doesn't make a difference" but it does. Look at it this way: only 17% of you voted. Say 30% or 40% of you had gotten out and voted: that could have made a big difference in the outcome of this election. Perhaps Kerry would have won or perhaps Bush would have won with an even bigger margin than he did but something would have been different!
And it's not just young adults I'm criticising here. I also want to say to the parents and teachers of these young adults and to everyone else over the age of 30 that this is your problem too. How can you stand by and watch the young adults of this country be so apathetic? Do something! Talk to them! Explain to them how every vote in this country is important. Good grief people, you are so fortunate in this country just to be able to get out and vote. Voting is a privelege, it's an honor and why anyone would just not bother is beyond my comprehension.
Now you may go to my real home page which is probably what you came here for anyway.
