One day about eight years ago
You took away my father
You had a greater plan for him
With that I could not bother
You called his name and said, son it's time to go
You took him to a place where pain he'll never know
I know he is much better where he is today
There's just one thing though Lord that I would like to say
You see today is a very special day for me
I will give to the man I love all I could ever be
I wish somehow that my father could be here,
standing by my side
So he could watch me walk down the aisle,
as I become a bride
Though, I am of no illusions so I know this cannot be
There is one favor Lord that I pray you will grant me
Since I know he cannot be here to share in this special day
Lord, could you please part the floors of heaven,
just a little out the way
So he can look down from your kingdom up above
And watch as his only daughter vows her undying love
In loving memory of my father Kirk Thomas Watkins
On my wedding day
6-14-03
I love you,
Kelly Watkins
