Do you see the vultures in the sky, do you ever wonder why.
Flying close and then flying high, did something die?
Vultures are circling around and around, hope they don't reach the ground.
It's my favorite state park they've found, Governor has closed Indian Mountain State Park down.
My children are crying, their Park isn't dead, but it is dying
The old folks are sighing and there is no denying
Not only children are crying, vultures keep on flying
My seven year old is why-ing, Governor; are you really trying?
Sure does make our children sad, remembering all good times we had
Will never forget long walks with Grandad and the talks we had
When I was just a lad, went fishing in Park with my Dad
Was best fish I've ever had, Governor lots of us are mad
We used to camp out at night, tell scary stories by the firelight
Would hold my best girl tight, reassure her would be all right
Such a beautiful sight watching the stars come out at night
Was never in a hurry for daylight
Governor, are you sure what you are doing is Right?
Tennessee State Parks are great but not as beautiful as Virginia my home state
Sure would like to celebrate, but its always hurry up and wait
How did budget get in such bad shape do you have to much on your plate
Should we put black wreaths on all of the gates, RIP they would state
Our parks are missed, closing them was a big risk
Was just talking to my sis, said was just bad politics
This type of politics makes us sick, could you just not resist
Shame came to this, most snakes give warnings rattle or hiss
My children want to go play in parks today
Been to many yesterdays, what a price we are paying
Is this all you have to say, is this really the Democratic way
Lets chips fall where they may, Governor did you take your grandchildren to a state park today?
We are wondering when, will take our hearts long time to mend
Poor people are sending their pennies in, will help any way we can
This is nearly a sin, be worth it when we win.
When your terms first begin thought you were our friend
Promises were made January, March, April and maybe June
couldn't you open State Parks soon
Where can our children fly kites and balloons,
only safe place left to play is their rooms
Miss our fun filled afternoons, singing silly tunes
Governor will soon be a new broom, are you reaching for moon
Johny is to old to play - gave all his toys away
Got married the other day, wish he could stay
Had to move faraway, all good jobs are gone they say
Maybe my grandchildren will have a clean State Park for play, wonder what new Governor will say
Have you ever been in Indian Mountain State Park when sun is going down
Sun cast pink, red orange and yellow and blue colors on the ponds and ground
My little girl Jill said Mommy What's that sound
Why honey, its the vultures crying for Indian Mountain State park as they go around and around
Mommy, geese and ducks are flying round and round, headed for another State Park in some other town
No, that's not rain its Angel's teardrops on State Parks falling down
Landing ever so gently on this hollow ground.
