Cox Funeral Home
A little bit of history

History kindly provided by Angie Sabastian

In the year 1910 my great grandfather, George W. Ellison started in the funeral business which was called Ellison Furniture and Undertaking. My Grandfather George Washington Ellison (Pete) actually wrote a small book called My Years and Memories in the Funeral Home Business. He tells several little things and cute little short stories about things and people in Jellico. From Joe Williams and Tom Baker driving the horse drawn hearse to who did the embalming to Ray Ellison being the first Funeral Director around. My Great Grandfather was also the Mayor of Jellico from my understanding.

I am so happy to see this web site being done for Jellico. I have a special place in my heart for Jellico.

Thank you for taking time to make sure no one forgets such a unique place.
