You can get to the MacTCP setup screen one of two ways, either by opening the control panel yourself, or clicking on the MacTCP button from within FreePPP. Here's what you get when you run the program:
(You might have more, or fewer, icons in your window.) Make sure FreePPP is highlighted, and then click on the "More..." button. Here's what you'll get:
Keep in mind that this setup is for jellico.com -- if that's what
you're using, then this will work. Notice a couple of important details
here:
1) Let the server obtain the IP address (upper left window);
2) Specify Class "C" in the upper right window. When you do, most
of the rest of the questions in that window will fill themselves in.
3) In the lower right window ("Domain Name Server Information"),
notice that I have three rows, and the first two rows are the same, with
the exception that the first one is listed as default. Having
this redundant list of DNS names was the difference in my connection working
and not working. If you have made it this far on your own
in setting up your TCP stack, this could certainly be a place where you
would find a problem. I happened to run across this piece of advice on
a website, and it was the missing piece I needed to get my Mac online!
