You may have noticed a subject line like this in your e-mail lately:
And if you look at the full headers of this e-mail you will notice this:
X-Filtered-0: *** PLEASE NOTE ***
X-Filtered-1: Potentially dangerous attachments have been
X-Filtered-2: found in this e-mail, and have either been
X-Filtered-3: renamed or deleted for your safety.
Or you may receive an e-mail that has had the attachment removed and says this in the message body:
WARNING: This email violated jellico.com, Inc.'s email security policy and
has been modified. For more information, contact service@jellico.com
jellico.com is now filtering dangerous (virus containing) file attachments from your e-mail. This should greatly reduce the amount of viruses that you receive in your e-mail. The filtering is being done on the file extension (the part of the file name after the dot) of the attached file. So if you receive an e-mail containing an attached file with a name like "virus.pif" (the pif is the file extension) it will be removed from your mail. Some file extensions (such as .pif) are being deleted, resulting in an e-mail arriving in your mailbox with the deleted attachment subject line. Others, such as .bat, .exe, .scr, .zlq, .zlo) are being killed before they ever reach your mailbox.
Caution! While this should greatly reduce the number of viruses you receive it will not completely eliminate all viruses. Please continue to be cautious of e-mail attachments that you open.
For those of you who may need to know: you will no longer receive e-mails with the following file extensions:
ADE, ADP, APP, ASD, ASF, ASX, B64, BAS, BAT, BHX, CHM, CMD, COM, CPL, CRT, DLL, EML, EXE
Please call our office or send e-mail to service@jellico.com if you have any questions regarding jellico.com's virus file attachment filtering.
